Business Valuation

Holt Capital appraisals are done to establish the value of a company to raise capital from outside investors, prepare for structuring debt, or for sale of company. We perform two levels of valuation, and both are done to established professional standards. The type of company and the purpose of the valuation dictate which approach we use.

Our Preliminary Analysis and Value Study provides a snapshot of the company value. Our client receives a 1 to 3 page report.

Our Comprehensive Appraisal uses up to three valuation approaches, and includes all assets, real-estate, intellectual property, and cash flow. Our analysis and approach are discussed in a comprehensive appraisal report. While the availability of good bookkeeping and accounting records is important, we will help our client reconstruct income statements and balance sheets. If required, we recast historic financials.

The value of a business is its cash price at a given time. The price is usually an amount of money paid over time. Since the time value of money must be included in the price, the opportunity costs to the seller holding the note must be included. The interest on the moneys owned must be at identified market rates, and interest rate volatility may be hedged against with interest adjustment terms.

To get to a point where you can talk with confidence about the value of your business, professionals who have special knowledge must assess it. Template and other out of the box valuations detract from your business package rather than enhance it. Appraisal and valuation of your business is essential to the realization of the fair market price for a business

The valuation of your closely held business provides you with a solid point of negotiation for successful completion of your transaction. Our people are educated in the field and have many years of valuation experience.
